The giant Spanish isopod. Huge! Porcellio Hoffmannseggi are currently the largest terrestrial isopod species we know of, reaching up to a whopping 4cm in length! No wonder they have been nicknamed the "Titan Isopod".

Porcellio hoffmannseggi are native to the southern Iberian Peninsula, Morocco, and the Balearic Islands.

The 'wild type' Porcellio Hoffmanseggi are a beautiful solid grey colour with a white skirt, though they can produce some stunning colour morphs such as: caramel, chocolate, orange and even a pure white morph, nicknamed "Yeti"!

If you are looking to grow a large colony of giant isopods, then P. Hoffmanseggi are a great choice, they are fast to mature and can mature and reproduce in just 7 months!

Porcellio Hoffmannseggi Care:

These Spanish isopods do well at average UK room temperatures (around 20°C). They enjoy a drier environment, general guidance would be to keep 1/5 of the enclosure moist. Porcellio Hoffmannseggi Isopods enjoy a variety of foods such as:

• Washed and peeled vegetable scraps
• Fish flakes
• Dried minnows
• Dried Shrimp
• Leaf Litter
• White rotten wood

The staple of their diet should be leaf litter and rotten hardwoods. Ensure they have access to a good source of calcium, we would recommend either cuttlebone, eggshells or oyster shells.

We do not sell any wild caught animals and do our part to stabilise the hobby by breeding in captivity to minimise poaching and the illegal importation of animals.
